Resolution No. 91-R257-230, adopted September 23, 1991. That the City of Richmond does hereby create and organize a public authority named the Richmond Ambulance Authority, pursuant to the provisions of the Richmond Ambulance Authority Act, Chapter 431 of the 1991 Acts of Assembly, as amended by Resolution No. 2009-R102-112, adopted July 27, 2009 (Va. Code Sec. 15.2-1535 authoriize a city Council Representative to serve on the board).
COMPOSITION
The Authority shall have (11) eleven members, two of whom shall be the Chief Administrative Officer and the Director of Finance, and one (1) City Council Representative. Eight (8) members shall be appointed by the City Council for a term of two (2) years. The remaining two members (the Chief Administrative Officer and the Director of Finance) shall serve during the time that they hold such offices. Members of the Richmond Ambulance Authority need not live or work in the city as a condition of their membership. (Assigned to the Public Safety Standing Committee)

OBLIGATION
To provide emergency ambulance service originating in the City of Richmond, non-emergency ambulance service within the Commonwealth of Virginia, mutual aid to other jurisdictions upon the request of such jurisdictions, and to conduct such other activities as may be reasonably related to doing so, subject to such restrictions as may be imposed by law.
