COMPOSITION
The Richmond Metropolitan Transportation Authority is to be governed by a Board of Directors consisting of sixteen members appointed as follows: five members to be appointed by the Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield County, five members to be appointed by the Board of Supervisors of Henrico County, five members to be appointed by the mayor of the city of Richmond with the approval of the City Council and an ex officio member from the Commonwealth. (Assigned to the Finance & Economic Development Standing Committee)

OBLIGATION
The Richmond Metropolitan Transportation Authority was created as a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia for the purposes of alleviating highway congestion, promoting highway safety, expanding highway construction, increasing the utility and benefits and extending the services of public highways including bridges, tunnels, and other highway facilities, and for otherwise contributing to the economy, industrial and agricultural development and welfare of the Commonwealth of the City of Richmond and the Counties of Henrico and Chesterfield.
