COMPOSITION
The Board of Fire Appeals shall consist of five members who shall be appointed by the City Council. Membership on the board shall include individuals who are qualified by experience and training to rule on matters pertaining to building construction and fire prevention. (Assigned to Land Use, Housing & Transportation Standing Committee)
TERM OF OFFICE
Members shall serve for a term of five years.

OBLIGATION
The Board of Fire Appeals shall be responsible for hearing appeals arising from the application of the provisions of the Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code and the city's fire safety regulations. The board shall operate in accordance with the applicable sections of the Administrative Process Act and the Statewide Fire Prevention Code.
